Apple delays Carpool Karaoke
Apple has pushed back the launch of its first original series, Carpool Karaoke.
The tech giant is moving into original programming, ordering Carpool Karaoke and reality competition series Planet of the Apps, with reported plans to green-light drama series and movies.
Carpool Karaoke, an adaptation from a segment on James Corden’s US talkshow, was to be the first of its owned shows, and was set to launch this quarter.
Reuters reported yesterday that this will now not happen, with the series bow delayed to an unspecified date later in the year.
The news wire reported that Apple postponed the LA launch party for the show for the second time this week.
The tech firm would not comment or give any reason for the delay, but issued a statement in which it said it will launch on the Apple Music subscription service later this year.
In February Apple’s SVP of internet software and services, Eddy Cue, said that Apple’s first originals would launch on Apple Music in the “next few months”.
