Formula E expands broadcast deal with L’Équipe
Formula E and L’Équipe have strengthened their partnership with all 17 races from Formula E’s upcoming tenth season to be broadcasted free-to-air (FTA) in France as part of a new extended multi-year agreement.
A minimum of 11 races and nine qualifying sessions in season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will air live on L’Équipe’s main linear channel, la chaine L’Équipe, with the remainder airing later.
The Formula E World Championship kicks off January 13, with the Hankook Mexico City E-Prix. Under the new deal, L’Équipe also bolsters its coverage for the next season from four to seven races.
At the end of last year, Formula E announced the electric motorsport series will be shown live in China for the first time as part of a new landmark deal with Chinese national broadcaster, CMG. The racing competition will also air exclusively in the UK on Warner Bros. Discovery and BT Group’s joint sports broadcaster TNT Sports.
Aarti Dabas, chief media officer, Formula E, said:“L’Équipe is a valued partner for Formula E, and we are excited to continue together beyond Season 10, which is set to be the biggest and most competitive yet.”
Jérôme Saporito, head of TV department of L’Équipe said: “After the renewal of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Dakar acquisition, we continue our free to air broadcast strategy for major sport events, and further our motorsport offering for the enjoyment of viewers.”
Emmanuel Alix, head of digital department of L’Équipe added: “With all qualifying sessions and races on « L’Équipe live », these three new Formula E seasons strengthen the position of our platform as a major media of races broadcast and direct sport events. With la chaine L’Équipe, the L’Équipe’s channel package provides maximum coverage for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. ”
