VodafoneZiggo CEO Jeroen Hoencamp to leave
Jeroen Hoencamp is to quit as CEO of VodafoneZiggo. The longstanding chief executive will leave the company on May 1 next year.
Hoencamp has been CEO of VodafoneZiggo since the inception of Liberty Global’s Dutch joint venture with Vodafone in 2016. Previously, he was CEO of Vodafone UK and Vodafone Ireland.
Hoencamp, who worked for a total of 25 years in various management positions within the telecom sector, had decided to start a new chapter in his life, according to the company.
Under his leadership, the integration of mobile operator Vodafone and cable operator Ziggo was successfully completed. The company has hailed the success of its converged services offering. .
VodafoneZiggo’s owners, Liberty Global and Vodafone Group are now starting the process to find a successor. In the meantime, Hoencamp will continue to lead VodafoneZiggo as
Hoencamp said that his seven years as CEO at VodafoneZiggo have been “the highlight of my career”.
“VodafoneZiggo has a rock-solid position in the telecom market due to our fast and reliable fixed and mobile network and an unsurpassed sports and entertainment offering. I am sure that in the future the company will continue our mission to bring joy and progress to our customers and the Netherlands with every connection,” said Hoencamp.
Liberty Global and Vodafone’s intentions for the future of the JV have been the subject of speculation for several years.
Speaking to analysts after Liberty Global posted its earnings to June, CEO Mike Fries said that VodafoneZiggo had been “a textbook case” of convergence and said that “the market is more rational than people realise”.
He said discussion were taking place “about where we are going” and added that “all options are on the table” for the future of the company. However, he decline to give an indication on a timing of any decision.
