Tata Play launches Tata Play Binge platform-as-a-service
Indian pay TV service provider Tata Play, formerly known as Tata Sky, has launched Tata Play Binge PaaS, a platform-as-a-service white label offering for OTT aggregators internationally.
Tata Play launched Tata Play Binge as a standalone OTT offering available without a DTH contract at the end of last year, with subscriptions starting at INR59. The service launched with a range of streaming apps including Disney+ Hotstar, ZEE5, SonyLIV, Voot Select, MX Player, hoichoi, Chaupal, Namma Flix, Planet Marathi, Sun NXT, Hungama Play, Eros Now, ShemarooMe, Voot Kids, Curiosity Stream, EPIC ON and DocuBay, alongside gaming apps.
Tata Play is now offering the technology underlying the service as a cloud-based PaaS to companies looking to offer streaming services outside India.
According to local reports, citing Tata Play CEO Harit Nagpal speaking at a conference in Bali, the first partner for the service is Philippines-based Cignal TV.
The offering will enable streamers to offer aggregated OTT services without making large upfront investments, according to Tata Play.
