High View takes control of SPT’s German linear channels

German media company High View has formally announced the takeover of all linear channels from Sony Pictures Television in German-speaking countries. The deal, first touted in July 2023, sees High View take control of Sony AXN and Sony Channel in German-speaking countries. The deal also covers SVOD offering Sony One.

Commenting on the deal, a High View spokesperson said: “We are very pleased that these high-quality premium offerings are becoming part of our line-up. The takeover is an important strategic step that perfectly complements our portfolio, which stands for high-quality and target group-specific offers. We plan to continue our long-term content partnership with Sony Pictures Television, especially in the VOD part of the market, which will also be further expanded with other strong partners.”

The acquisition of Sony AXN, Sony Channel and Sony One takes effect today (September 1, 2023) and is accompanied by a rebranding. In the future, Sony AXN will become AXN Black, Sony Channel becomes AXN White and the VOD offering Sony One becomes AXN+. AXN Black will carry series such as Yellowstone, The Blacklist and Chicago PD. AXN White has series like Sanditon and Call The Midwife

HIGH VIEW already operates a number of media brands, and is active across several genres. It owns music brand Deluxe and has channels in the fields of documentary, hunting, cooking and the environment. Its brands are distributed across Europe via cable, IPTV and satellite as well as FAST and VOD platforms.
