Canal+ launches Canal Box Office dedicated to recent releases
French pay TV operator Canal+ has launched a new movie channel dedicated to films recently released theatrically, whether French or American.
Canal+ is also launching a new version of its Canal+ Cinéma(s) offering dedicated to art films released through the festival circuit and to international genre movies.
The pay TV operator said the launches follow the successful debut of Canal+ Grand Écran, a service dedicated to cult movies, last year.
Canal+ Box Office will focus on recently-released US studio movies, to be windowed six months after their theatrical release.
Movies to debut on the service shortly after its September 1 launch will include Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Babylon, The Fabelmans, The Woman King, Screan VI and Astérix & Obélix: L’Empire du Milieu.
The new channel will be available as a linear service and as an on-demand offering view myCanal.
Canal+ Cinéma(s) offers recengt French and international films by well-known film-makers including, from September 1, films shown at the Mostra de Venise including Tár, Saint Omer, L’Immensità, Pour La France, Bones and All and Toute La Beaute et le Sang Versé.
The channel will be available as part of the Canal+ Ciné Séries package an as an on-demand offering via myCanal.
