Rakuten TV app launches on PlayStation 5

FAST operator Rakuten TV has launched its video streaming app for PlayStation 5 (PS5) gaming console.

The addition of the Rakuten TV app for PS5 will provide users access to its wide range of content directly from their gaming console.

The Rakuten TV app launches on the PS5 in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, Poland, Romania.

The company said the launch is a move to enhancing its distribution in 2023 and making its content more easily accessible to a broader audience across Europe.

Rakuten TV’s content of over 10,000 titles includes AVOD to TVOD and live channels, along with the latest Hollywood titles. With programming spanning across various genres such as news, movies, kids, sports or entertainment.

Sidharth Jayant, chief product officer at Rakuten TV, said: “This launch is a step forward in our growth and potential. After having recently announced the enhancement of our FAST channels portfolio, we are glad now to complement it with our new collaboration to reach a wider audience”.

Rakuten TV is available in 43 European territories and currently reaches more than 140 million households, according to the company.
