Proximus hails ‘well-contained’ TV losses
Belgian telco Proximus managed to limit TV losses in the second quarter to what it described as a ‘well-contained’ 3,000 amid strong growth across other product lines.
The operator added 48,000 post-paid mobile customers, 13,000 internet customers and 16,000 convergent customers, driven by fibre take-up.
Proximus had 1.694 million TV customers at the end of the quarter, down 2.1% year-on-year. By way of comparison, internet customers grew by 1.7% to 2.24 million, while fixed voice declined by 9.4% to 1.727 million.
Proximus saw its underlying revenue overall growth by 4% to €1.495 billion, while domestic service revenue was up 4.2% to €1.147 billion.
Group underlying EBITDA was down 3.7% to €446 million.
CEO Guillaume Boutin said he was “ very pleased with what has been achieved during the first half of the year, in an ever-challenging macroeconomic environment” and reiterated full-year guidance.
