Hong Kong’s RTHK taps Irdeto to secure video streaming platforms

Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), Hong Kong’s biggest free-to-air public broadcaster, has chosen security technology specialist Irdeto and local systems integrator Mediatech to implement Irdeto Control as the multi-DRM technology for its video streaming platforms.

RTHK is investing in premium content from global content providers to strengthen its position against other pay TV operators and streaming video providers in Hong Kong.

Irdeto Control’s multi-DRM service and features, such as Geo Blocking and VPN Detection, will protect and prevent its content investments from being pirated, according to the security outfit.
