The Spanish National Organisation of the Blind taps Telefónica Tech
The Spanish National Organisation of the Blind (ONCE) has selected Telefónica’s tech outfit, Telefónica Tech, to migrate its services to the cloud.
The technology company has transferred the ONCE platform to the Virtual Data Center (VDC) infrastructure, the Telefónica Tech cloud where customers can choose the management model that best suits their needs and which also includes comprehensive communication and cybersecurity services. The partnerships aims to create a more efficient and secure environment for ONCE which meets the new storage and processing challenges of its sector.
Telefónica Tech has also provided its services to design a future plan that allows ONCE to evolve this Cloud proposal based on VDC towards hybrid environments in partnership with its strategic alliances it has with hyperscalars (AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud).
The tech outfits said this hybridisation will bring additional operational efficiencies to ONCE, both in terms of costs and from the incorporation of other technologies, as well as expanding the possibilities of innovation for the deployment of digital services that will benefit all the people affiliated with the Organisation and the customers of its social lottery products that it markets as an operator committed to safe and responsible gambling.
Javier Merino, technical director of Systems and Information Technology at Once, said: “A transition project to a new infrastructure is a technical and management challenge. The Telefónica Tech team has demonstrated both its technological capacity to carry it out efficiently and its commitment to our objectives, providing innovative solutions and guaranteeing, at all times, the continuity and security of all the Organisation’s processes”.
María Jesús Almazor, CEO of Cloud and Cyber Security at Telefónica Tech, added: “Our multi-cloud proposal, based on our own infrastructures and the strategic alliances we have with the main hyperscalars, allows us to offer public and private organisations the Cloud solutions that best suit their needs, placing each workload in the right place. We are very proud that ONCE has chosen us to accompany them on their journey to the cloud, because it is a very important step in expanding their processing and storage capacity and driving the digital transformation of their business”.
