El País taps The Channel Store to add live news to FAST channel

Spanish-language news group El País has tapped The Channel Store to add live content to its FAST channel.

Coinciding with Spain’s regional and local elections on May 28, the Prisa Group channel began broadcasting daily live news programmes with coverage of the elections.

FAST and AVOD-focused technology outfit The Channel Store has been working with El País to create and distribute its TV channel on the Tivify, Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels and Xiaomi Mi TV+ platforms since October 2022.

The Channel Store said it has set a milestone by including for the first time, in a native FAST channel, the ability to insert live signals into the programming grid in real time, bringing the free ad-supported streaming TV format closer to traditional TV production.
