Disney and Telecom Italia renew deal for Disney+
Telecom Italia (TIM) and Walt Disney Company Italia have renewed their existing agreement for the distribution of streamer Disney+ in combination with the telco’s TIMVision video offer and TIM’s ultra-broadband offers.
On TIMVision, customers will be able to see, both at home and on the move, all the entertainment offered by Disney+, the dedicated streaming home for movies and series from the brands Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic, as well as Star’s general entertainment.
Disney+ in Italy offers content from a range of genres, including action-adventure, sci-fi and documentaries, drama and comedy. The current content line-up includes The Good Mothers, Peter Pan & Wendy, The Mandalorian, A Small Light and The Kardashians.
Andrea Rossini, chief consumer, small and medium market officer, TIM, said: “The renewal of this important agreement is hinged on our consolidated relations with Disney, which back in 2020 chose TIM as its strategic partner. With TimVision, we make the most complete streaming platform on the Italian television scene available to an increasingly broad, demanding public, acting as an aggregator of contents offering the very best of premium entertainment thanks to collaborations like this one”.
Daniel Frigo, country manager, The Walt Disney Company Italy, Turkey, Israel and Greece, said: “We are happy to renew our collaboration with TIM, continuing to offer their customers the rich Disney+ catalogue. A great heritage of storytelling that has distinguished our Company for 100 years and that, also thanks to the general entertainment offer, is intended for an ever-wider audience”
In other TIM news, Italia state lender Casa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) is reportedly pulling out of a bid to buy the company’s fixed network rather than engage in a further bidding war with private-equity outfit KKR. The reported decision comes after TIM called on bidders to raise their offers and could leave the field open for KKR to take control of the infrastructure of the telco.
