SkyShowtime adds detail on Central & Eastern European rollout
Having previously announced its official launch date in Bulgaria and the majority of the former Yugoslavia (December 14), streaming platform SkyShowtime has now added some further details regarding the shape of the service at launch.
According to the platform, customers in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia will be able to access exclusive television premieres of first-run theatrical films from Universal Pictures and Paramount Pictures, new and exclusive scripted series, kids and family content and a selection of library titles and box sets from Nickelodeon, DreamWorks Animation, Paramount+, SHOWTIME, Sky Studios and Peacock – all streaming in one place. SkyShowtime will also feature local original programming, documentaries and specials from its markets.
SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhan said: “We are extremely excited to bring SkyShowtime to C&E Europe. We know that our incredible line up of series and movies – all at an amazing price – will resonate with consumers in these new markets just as it has with subscribers in the Nordics, the Netherlands and Portugal.”
Gabor Harsanyi, regional general manager for Central and Eastern Europe, SkyShowtime, said: “We are proud to bring to audiences across C&E Europe new and exclusive access to the latest series and movies from our world-renowned studios. I am excited that this world class premium proposition is finally arriving to our region.”
Although the platform is billing this new phase as a C&E launch, its big move into the region will come in February 2023, when it goes live in Albania, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.
SkyShowtime is a JV between Comcast and Paramount Global. It will be available direct-to-consumer via its website via the SkyShowtime app on various platforms. In Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia, it is priced at 5.99€ per month. In Bulgaria, the service will be available for 3.99€ per month.
