Roku and TCL roll out new smart TV models in Australia
Long-time collaborators Roku and TCL Electronics have announced the imminent roll out of TCL Roku TV models in Australia. Starting this month, Australian consumers will be able to purchase 4K UHD TCL Roku TV models in 55- or 65-inch screen sizes.
The TVs in question provide consumers with a seamless smart TV experience, which they can personalise according to their viewing habits. “Roku TV models combine a great selection of entertainment with unmatched simplicity at an affordable price,” said Arthur van Rest, VP, International at Roku. “TCL was one of the first TV manufacturers to embrace Roku TV, and we are excited to expand our global partnership.”
With a TCL Roku TV, Australian consumers get access to the Roku Channel Store, which offers numerous streaming options. At launch, the Australian channel store will include a range of international services such as Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, BritBox and Prime Video, combined with local platforms Stan, 9Now and 7plus.
Roku and Chinese TV manufacturer TCL have been working together since 2014 and already have TV sets in markets such as the US, UK and Germany. TCL, however, has been expanding its range of tech/streaming partnerships. It has an extensive relationship with Google TV and has also just started working with Amazon Fire TV. Having first announced their partnership in September 2022, TCL sets powered by the Amazon Fire TV OS are rolling out in the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain.
Commenting, Eric Saarnio, VP of Amazon Devices International said: “Our Fire TV built-in portfolio continues to grow worldwide. Together with TCL, we are able to deliver an even more diverse line-up of high-quality, innovative smart TVs that combine Fire TV’s best-in-class entertainment experiences with TCL’s expertise in building world-class TVs.”
