Canal+’s M7 names original production chief
Canal+-owned pan-European pay TV outfit M7 Group has named Robin Logjes as its content director, original productions as it ramps up its focus on its own content.
In this new role, Logies will primarily focus on the creation and production of European scripted content that appeals and resonates across all M7 territories, according to the operator.
Logies has spent over 20 years career in the media industry including various jobs at RTL, most recently as EVP of acquisitions.
M7 said Logies’ appointment was a logical outcome of M7’s widened scope from linear channel distributor to premium content producer and creator.
The company has moved to focus more on content following its acquisition by Canal+ Group in 2019, with an emphasis on providing high quality content for both linear and SVOD services.
M7 serves over three million subscribers across eight European markets.
Stefano Colombo, VP content at M7 said: “Recent research by Canal+ confirms there is a strong but unfulfilled appetite among SVOD users for original and exclusive fiction content, from European origin. Backed by the expertise and long-standing experience of Canal+, our ambition is to meet this untapped demand. We are therefore very happy to have Robin on board, bringing an outstanding knowledge of everything related to films and series, while being an expert in the fields of scriptwriting, content acquisition and production.”
Logjes said: “Given my professional background and enormous passion for scripted content, I am very excited to take on this new role in which I intend to collaborate closely with content producers throughout Europe. I hope to prove that in the increasingly crowded world of streamers, the creation of our own, high-quality content is a critical differentiator. Strongly rooted in various European markets, I believe M7 has strong cards to play for the creation and production of attractive content that works well across many borders.”
