Sky Deutschland secures WSL rights
Sky Deutschland has agreed a deal to broadcast the Women’s Super League.
Starting from the 2022/23 season, Sky will carry what is fast becoming one of the highest-profile women’s sports leagues in the world.
Coverage of the WSL will be available across the Sky linear channels and digital platforms in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In addition, matches will be available via the Sky Ticket streaming platform.
Hans Gabbe, Sky Deutschland senior vice president of sports rights and commercialisation, said: “The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fits perfectly into our sports portfolio – at the same time we offer women’s football a larger platform and are consistently expanding our leadership position in women’s sports. We want to offer the interested target group even more exciting women’s sports and thus further promote growth in this area.”
The announcement comes almost exactly one year after Sky agreed a landmark three-year deal with the WSL in the UK worth £8 million per year.
