Netflix brings ‘fast laughs’ to TVs
Netflix is testing out its ‘fast laughs’ feature on TVs.
The feature is currently exclusive to the Netflix mobile app, and presents a TikTok-style feed of short-form clips from the streamer’s shows, movies and comedy specials.
Unlike TikTok (or indeed Netflix’s Play Something feature), fast laughs is a curated feed of content, which means that while it will not be tailored to the viewer it should present a diverse range of what the streamer has to offer.
When watching clips, viewers can add content they enjoy to their watch list and the full title will appear more prominently in their feed.
While a welcome addition to the Netflix app on smart TVs, the feature is arguably better suited to mobile usage. The vertical short-form viewing format lends itself more to smartphones, and the mobile app allows users to share clips to social media and send them to friends.
Netflix Fast Laughs is available in a number of English-speaking countries including the UK, Australia, Canada and the US. It is available to adult profiles on the app.
