Netflix Games comes to iOS
Netflix has launched its games app on iOS devices.
Netflix Games first launched on Android devices earlier this month. It provides access to five launch games including Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Shooting Hoops, Teeter (Up), and Card Blast. The company has also said that Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story, which will cost US$10 on PC and Nintendo Switch, wil be included in the app for Netflix subscribers.
The iOS launch comes as something of a surprise given Apple’s hostility to making third-party game launchers available via the App Store. Numerous cloud gaming platforms – including Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now – have been blocked from the App Store with their operators forced to find web-based workarounds.
Starting Wednesday, November 10, Netflix subscribers will see a dedicated games row within the app. From there they can select any game to download from the App Store, with the game then showing up within the Netflix app and on the iOS home screen.
Netflix said that the mobile games will start slowly rolling out on the Netflix app on iOS through the day.
