Real Madrid TV gets North American expansion
Spanish football club Real Madrid is to expand its in-house sports streaming channel to North America.
Partnering with digital platform provider Cinedigm, the Real Madrid TV channel will offer “thousands of hours of fan-centric football content” in the build up to the 2021/22 season along with 2-3 matches per week once the season starts.
Content on offer will also include live press conferences, interviews, training sessions, classic matches, magazine shows and special features.
Real Madrid TV will be available in the US and Canada on linear and AVOD platforms on connected TVs, digital set-top boxes, media-streaming devices. Current distribution partners include The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, Samsung, TCL, Tubi and others.
Erick Opeka, President of Cinedigm Digital Networks, said: “Soccer is the most popular sport in the world with an extreme level of fandom. Partnering with Real Madrid, and giving this global club an exclusive home to many of the biggest OTT distribution partners in North America, will allow viewers to experience never before released content in the United States. Fans will feel like they are part of all the action with interviews, matches and news they can’t get anywhere else, and content will be refreshed weekly to keep fans engaged.”
For Cinedigm, Real Madrid TV joins a streaming portfolio that ranges from indie film network Fandor to the relaxing art of The Bob Ross Channel.
