Agile Content acquires Portuguese Android specialist WeTek

Madrid-based digital TV and OTT video technology specialists Agile Solutions, which acquired Swedish tech outfit Edgeware last year, has acquired WeTek, a Portuguese technology specialist focusing on the research and development of devices and set-top boxes for DVB and IPTV/OTT service providers.

Agile Content said the move would enable it to extend its portfolio of end-end services and strengthen its position in the Portuguese market.

WeTek offers Android hardware and software solutions and device management services for a wide range of companies including pay TV and media companies and distributors.

Agile Content said the move would open the way to further diversification of its business, including an entry into the hospitality market.

It said that the acquisition would strengthen its R&D activities and enable the further development of linear and on-demand personalised viewing experiences on multiple devices.
