M-Net taps Ocilion for IPTV upgrade
Bavarian fibre network operator M-net has turned to IPTV systems provider Ocilion to upgrade its IPTV offering, with an announcement from the two companies in the run-up to the ANGA COM trade fair.
The IPTV offering developed by Ocilion for M-net includes, among other things, the provision of 4K-capable IPTV receivers, first and second screen apps and features such as replay and Net PVR as well as content packages.
M-net provides services to the metropolitan areas of Munich, Augsburg and Erlangen and many other parts of Bavaria, the greater Ulm area and the Hessian Main-Kinzig district, with an offering that spans high-speed internet, landline telephony, mobile communications and television. In addition to traditional cable television, M-net has been offering its own IPTV product for residential customers for around five years under the TVplus brand.
The on-premises solution provided by Ocilion to further develop this offering is hosted in the network and the existing infrastructure of M-net and enables the latter to expand the IPTV bouquet with TV channels as required.
“Through the cooperation with Ocilion we can take our IPTV connection TVplus to the next level and equip it with additional features such as 4K or recording in the cloud. The on-premises solution is the best choice for this, as it enables us to combine Ocilion’s TV expertise with our own high-performance fiber optic infrastructure and to offer our customers a significant leap in quality very quickly. In addition, we will also be able to provide new functions quickly and easily in the future. The ocilion platform is extremely flexible and enables us to react quickly to the future further development of TVplus based on the needs of our customers,” said Wolfgang Wallauer, division manager for private customers and the housing industry at M-net.
Hans Kühberger, CEO Ocilion, said: “M-net is the largest regional fibre optic player in southern Germany and therefore an important partner for us. With our on-premises solution, the provider can offer its customers a future-proof IPTV product with all facets. For M-net we implement a tailor-made package consisting of Ocilion software technology, our own end devices and apps, an extensive range of content and professional services. We are very much looking forward to the joint implementation and cooperation.”
