Agile Content names key executives following Edgeware acquisition
Barcelona-based video technology provider Agile Content has hired Cisco executive Nuno Ferraz de Carvalho as chief commercial officer as its integration with Edgeware, the Sweden-based technology specialist it acquired late last year, gathers pace, and has named Edgeware’s chief product and technology officer, Johan Bolin, to be its new global CTO.
At Cisco, Ferraz de Carvalho served as managing director of its Ggobal service providers division.
Agile Content said the appointment is being made during a sustained period of growth and follows the recently completed acquisition of content processing and video delivery specialist Edgeware.
The acquisition of Edgeware creates a company with a combined workforce of more than 250 digital video specialists to spearhead OTT innovation and serve over 40 million broadband households in 24 countries.
Ferraz de Carvalho has worked at Cisco since 1998, first as a Telcos Operation Manager, then Country Manager of Portugal, before overseeing its Global Service Providers EMEAR South team from 2014.
He said: “The past year has highlighted the importance of OTT TV, and its increasingly prominent position within our media consumption habits, so I’m delighted to be joining Agile Content at such a pivotal time. There’s real energy around the business with these new solutions and talent in place and I’m excited to be part of the journey as we look to redefine the OTT technology space.”
Bolin said: “The joint offering from Agile Content and Edgeware means we have a broader portfolio that can be used to address new opportunities, and we have an expanded R&D budget to fuel innovation.”
Agile Content CEO and chairman Hernan Scapusio said: “This is a very exciting period in Agile Content’s history, and I am delighted to have such experienced talents alongside us as we prepare for the next phase of our strategy. With the strengthened management team and the smooth integration with Edgeware already taking place, we have the foundations in place to provide innovative, end-to-end and affordable video services.”
