Telekom Srbija to deploy Irdeto Control
Serbian broadband and pay TV operator Telekom Srbija has announced a partnership with Irdeto.
The deal has seen the operator implement Irdeto Control, the company’s multi-DRM system, to secure their OTT platform serving its TV and broadband customers.
Irdeto Control is a multi-DRM, MovieLabs-compliant solution that is offered either as a fully managed service, hosted in public clouds or as a licensed software. Choosing the former, Telekom Srbija has been promised a highly scalable infrastructure that can “cope effortlessly” with meeting customer requirements during high demand events. In addition, the platform’s advanced business policy features enable the operator to offer customers a range of different subscription models.
Irdeto Control is one of the most popular solutions for OTT video providers, and issues over 1.9 billion licences per month. Telekom Srbija meanwhile is one of the largest in Serbia and has a leading role in fixed and mobile telephony.
Djordje Marovic, CTO of Telekom Srbija, said: “Irdeto has a strong track record of providing highly reliable solutions. Their DRM system is a state-of-the-art technology with advanced features and excellent customer support. This is exactly what we needed to continue to expand our OTT services to customers in Serbia.”
Shane McCarthy, COO of Video Entertainment at Irdeto, said: “This gives operators a significant competitive advantage to be among the first to offer services on the latest consumer devices. Providers can deliver a compelling service to a range of devices with the peace of mind that their premium content is secure and available even during major events attracting large audiences.”
