Tricolor strikes movie deal with NBCUniversal
Russian pay TV service Tricolor is boosting its feature film offering through new deal with NBCUniversal
The multiplatform operator has signed a deal with NBCUniversal Global Distribution, giving its customers access to films from the NBCUniversal portfolio.
Tricolor subscribers can now watch feature films from NBCUniversal and will be able to watch these movies on Tricolor’s own channels Ostrosuzehetnoe, Premial’Noe, Romantichnoe, Komedijnoe, Shokiruyushee, Kinopokaz, Hit, Blockbuster, Kamedi and Pro Lyubov. As part of this multi-year agreement, Tricolor has secured the Russian rights to broadcast these films on its channels, not only via satellite, but also on its OTT Tricolor Cinema and TV app.
Some of the NBCUniversal movies that viewers will now be able to watch in HD include films in Universal Pictures’ Jurassic Park and The Mummy franchises, Fifty Shades of Grey from Focus Features, The Holiday and Lucy. Children will also be able to view animated films such as Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax from Illumination and DreamWorks Animation’s Penguins of Madagascar.
“By signing a multi-year agreement for theatrical titles from NBCUniversal, we have made our movie collection even more diverse and interesting for our clients. It is especially important that we have obtained the rights to show these hit films on our channels online, as this will contribute to the development of our own OTT platform,” said Arsen Khomutov, Tricolor content director.
