A1 Slovenia launches advanced TV with Zappware
Telekom Austria’s Slovenian subsidiary A1 Slovenia has launched an advanced TV service using technology supplied to the group by Zappware.
The launch of the service, A1 Xplore TV, follows the launches of similar services in Bulgaria and Austria.
The set-top box being used by the Slovenian unit is Linux based. In Slovenia, A1 Telekom Austria operates a fixed-line service that is combination of cable and IPTV.
The set-top-based solution is branded as Xplore TV. A1 Slovenia also provides an app-based solution for smartphones that is branded as Xplore TV Go.
A1 Telekom Austria Group launched the Xplore TV content and streaming platform in Austria in March, following the launch of the service in Bulgaria at the end of last year.
A1 has tapped Zappware to deliver the platform for the service, which enables it to offer a single platform across the multiple markets in which it operates in central and Eastern Europe..
“The launch is part of the A1 Group single-brand strategy. For our TV proposition, Zappware’s award-winning NeXX 4.0 platform will allow us to evolve to an advanced and personalised solution, including third-party content, everything integrated in one seamless user experience,” said Lovro Peterlin, managing director of A1 Slovenia.
“Via the set up boxes, A1 Xplore TV customers in Slovenia now have direct access to YouTube. More 3rd party content providers will be added in the near future. Zappware was a partner for our previous NeXX 2.0 deployment and is now again our end-to-end platform provider for this important evolution.”
Patrick Vos, CEO of Zappware said: “The launch of A1 Xplore TV in Slovenia confirms Zappware’s ability to deploy end-to-end platforms for telecom operator groups. We are proud to execute the A1 Group strategy to bring one consistent user experience across the served markets, taking all respective in-country challenges and flavours into account.”
