UPC Poland adds casting capability for homebound Horizon Go customers
Liberty Global-owned cable operator UPC Poland has extended the functionality of its Horizon Go mobile TV service to include casting-capability with Google Chromecast and Apple Airplay devices.
UPC said that the new functionality, which will allow subscribers of the service to cast content from their devices on the big screen, would improve the ability of customers to use it during to coronavirus lockdown.
The casting functionality is available both for live streams and for catch-up TV, as well as for on-demand movies and other content.
Users need to choose the upload icon on the screen of the mobile device player while watching the content to be cast to the TV
Horizon Go can currently be used on iOS, Android and Windows mobile devices, on the web, on Android TV devices, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV.
UPC Poland had earlier reported that its customers were watching movies and series on-demand more frequently as the lockdown confines Poles indoors.
The company said that it had recorded increased demand for its FilmKlub HBO OD and Canal+ Na Życzenie services and on-demand content generally. It has also seen use of its catch-up TV service increase by about a third.
UPC offers over 700 movies for rental, including recent releases such as 1917and Frozen 2. Subscribers to the MyPrime package have access to over 2,000 titles.
UPC is also making this content available to customers with its Select and Max packages from May 3 during the coronavirus.
