PGA Tour signs Facebook Watch deal for daily highlights
Facebook and the PGA have agreed a deal to bring highlights packages to Facebook Watch.
The deal will see the PGA publish daily round recaps and player-specific highlights from over 30 PGA Tour events such as The Players Championship and FedExCup Playoffs.
The Facebook Watch packages will feature content from the organisation’s linear TV broadcasts and its OTT service, PGA Tour Live.
The deal follows a 2018 agreement between the parties to stream live coverage of some of the Tour’s events.
In addition, the PGA will also host interactive elements on its Facebook Group, such as Facebook Lives and Facebook Watch Parties.
Chris Wandell, VP of media business development at the PGA Tour said: “We’re excited to expand our partnership with Facebook by delivering additional content for our fans. This is in response to our fans’ appetite for additional coverage packaged in a way that is convenient for them to consume.”
Sidhant Rao, Facebook Sports League partnerships said: “We’re thrilled to add PGA Tour recaps to our growing portfolio of sports highlights on Facebook Watch. Through this content, as well as products such as Facebook Groups and Watch Party, the TOUR will be able to engage its fans in exciting new ways this year.”
