Double boost for Amazon Prime Video in Dutch and UK markets
Dutch telco KPN has revealed plans to add Amazon Prime Video to its Interactive TV menu. This makes KPN Interactive TV the first television platform in the Netherlands where users can watch Amazon Prime directly from their TV menu. The move will give KPN customers easier access to a large selection of films and TV series, including Amazon Originals such as Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and Modern Love.
As from today, customers with an Amazon Prime Video subscription can get direct access to Prime Video via the KPN TV menu with their account information. “User experience is central and our customers want easy access to the entertainment and content that they find attractive,” said Stijn Nuijten, head of marketing and products at KPN. “We’re making that possible with the addition of the Amazon Prime Video.”
“We are always looking for ways to make Amazon Prime Video easily available,” added Brett Ballbach, business development director at Amazon Prime Video EU. “It’s great that KPN customers can now our access our content more easily.”
December is also a big month for Amazon Prime Video in the UK, where the platform is starting to stream live Premier League soccer from today and in the run up to Christmas. Amazon’s launch into live soccer is the first major attack on Sky and BT’s domination of the UK sector. It is expecting to achieve strong take up this month as consumers take advantage of a one-month free trial period for Amazon Prime. This week, all ten premier league matches will be screened live on Prime, the first time a whole round of league fixtures has been available to consumers on a live basis.
