Comcast hires Geoffrey Sands as EVP of corporate strategy
Comcast has announced the appointment of Geoffrey Sands as executive vice president of corporate strategy.
In this role, Sands will help drive the overall growth strategy at the company. He will be based in Philadelphia and report to Mike Cavanagh, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of Comcast Corporation.
Sands joins Comcast having spent 14 years at McKinsey & Company, most recently as emeritus director. He also spent 12 years serving as a senior partner at the company. During his time at McKinsey & Company, Sands led the firm’s work with US cable, consumer technology, and media companies, along with global professional development for associate partners.
He was also an independent consultant, advising senior management and boards of directors on strategy, operations, growth, and profitability. Over the space of 14 years, Sands sat on the board of the Paley Center for Media, Participant Media and The Sundance Institute.
Prior to McKinsey & Company, Sands was a lead partner in the Telecom, Media, and Technology Practice at Booz Allen Hamilton.

The news comes days after Comcast announced losses of 238,000 in the quarter, CEO Brian Roberts stated that the company is going to put more of its efforts into streaming – led by its Flex TV OTT product.
