Sony Crime Channel to launch in the UK next month
Sony Pictures Television Networks (SPTN) is launching a new free-to-air TV channel in the UK next month, called Sony Crime Channel.
The network will be dedicated to scripted and non-scripted entertainment from the crime genre and is due to launch on February 6.
Sony Crime Channel will be available on the Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media platforms, taking channel slots 60, 157 and 193 respectively.
SPTN acquired free-to-air channel truTV in February 2017. The general entertainment channel was initially launched by Turner in 2014.
SPTN’s other UK free-to-air channel offering includes three ‘True’ branded channels — True Movies, True Entertainment and True Crime — and film channel Movies4Men.
Earlier this month SPTN named Turner executive Steve Hornsey as vice-president of its UK Entertainment portfolio and Viacom-owned Channel 5 kids chief Sarah Muller as VP of SPTN’s UK kids and youth portfolio.
