Cyfrowy Polsat boosted by multiplay uptake
Polish pay TV operator Cyfrowy Polsat has posted solid Q3 results with a strong uptake of multiplay service compensating for a flat overall subscriber base.
The operator had 5.8 million customers at the end of September, with 1.45 million taking converged services, a lift of 210,000 or 17% year-on-year. This group of customers now takes 4.31 million services in total.
The operator said that 25% of its contract customers now took a multiplay offer. Overall, Cyfrowy Polsat customers took an average of 2.34 services each.
Cyfrowy Polsat said that the number of contracted services provided by the company increased by 512,000 in the year to September to over 13.5 million.
The number of pay TV contracts increased by 203,000 to 4.9 million, thanks to the sale of multiroom and OTT services, including subscriptions to OTT TV service Ipla.
Contract mobile customers increased by 248,000 to 6.9 million, while mobile internet customers increased by 61,000 to 1.8 million.
The operator posted revenues of PLN2.391 billion (€565 million) for the quarter, up slightly from PLN2.389 billion, and EBITDA of PLN851 million.
Separately, Ipla is adding 4K UHD content from National Geographic to its content line-up. Users can watch 4K shows including Mars, Wild Venice and others.
