Iflix appoints Indonesian boss
Emerging market SVOD service Iflix has appointed the former CEO of ad agency Y&R Group Indonesia, Matthew Collier, as head of Iflix Indonesia.
Collier will report to Iflix’s incoming head of Asia, Jonas Engwall, who was appointed at the end of August and previously worked as the head of RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network.
Collier spent three years as CEO of Y&R Group Indonesia, prior to which he held senior executive roles at Y&R in Vietnam and Dubai. Before this he worked at marketing and advertising company 141 Worldwide.
“Matt is an exceptional business and team leader, with a proven track record driving business growth and strategy,” said Iflix co-founder and group CEO, Mark Britt. “He will be instrumental in spearheading the Company’s continued success in Indonesia, one of our most important and exciting territories.”
Collier said: “I am thrilled to take the helm of iflix Indonesia, and lead one of the group’s largest and most dynamic markets. Digital services are taking off in Indonesia with huge opportunities to innovate traditional media and entertainment experiences.”
The news comes less than a month after Iflix hired Sky’s group director of M&A and international development M&A executive Anil Jhingan as its chief commercial and financial officer.
In August Iflix completed a US$133 million (€113 million) funding round led by US media giant Hearst. Existing shareholders Sky, Liberty Global, Evolution Media and Jungle Ventures also increased their investments in the firm, and were joined by new backers Singapore-based EDBI and clients of DBS private bank.
