New chief for Georgian public broadcaster
The Georgian Public Broadcaster has named Vasil Maghlaperidze as its new director-general.
Maghlaperidze was chosen by the broadcaster’s board of trustees from a line-up of 15 candidates and a shortlist of five.
Maghlaperidze, who succeeds Giorgi Baratashvili, the broadcaster’s previous director-general who resigned last year, previously served as producer of the 2030 show on GDS TV. He has also worked as deputy director of Georgian TV service Channel 9.
Maghlaperidze has also been a member of parliament, serving as head of the educaton and technologies sub-commission, and has served as state attorney and governor of the administrative-territorial units of Dusheti, Tianeti, Mtskheta and Kazbegi.
