MTG Norway appoints new CEO
MTG Norway has appointed Nice Entertainment Group CEO Morten Aass as its new chief executive as part of an internal reshuffle.
Aass replaces Trygve Rønningen, who exited last year to become channel director of MTG commercial broadcast rival TV2.
Nice sits within the MTG European broadcasting group and has appointed another MTG staff member, Morten Mogensen, to replace Aass – who had led Nice since it was established in 2010.
Mogensen joined MTG in 2005 as commissioning editor at MTG Denmark before becoming CEO of FremantleMedia-owned prodco Blu Productions and then became programming boss at Monday Productions.
In 2011, he rejoined MTG Denmark as programme director before becoming the wider group’s chief content officer for Scandinavia and central and eastern Europe.
“Telling great stories is what we do and Morten is one of our most experienced leaders of talented content creators,” said Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, who is president and CEO of MTG and chairman of Nice. “He will lead the nice team’s ongoing development as a creator and distributor of truly world class entertainment.
“I also want to thank Morten Aass, founder of Nice Entertainment Group and its CEO since 2010, for building this great company together with his fantastic super passionate story telling team, and to congratulate him on his new role as CEO of MTG Norway.”
Nice currently comprises 28 production companies in 16 territories, and now also houses UK-based distributor DRG. Aass was its CEO in 2013 when MTG paid €84.6 million for control of Nice, which was last year the subject of sale speculation, though no deal materialised.
