Twitter strikes deal to broadcast Premier League clips

Twitter_logo_blueTwitter has struck a deal with Sky Sports to broadcast real-time video clips of Premier League football to mobile devices in the UK and Ireland.

Twitter users will be able to access a “selection of the key goals and moments” from every Premier League game broadcast during the 2016/17 season, as well as post-match analysis.

The content will be available through Sky Sports’ official Twitter football account, @SkyFootball, which currently has 2.92 million followers.

The footage will be posted through Twitter Amplify an initiative that unites

broadcasters and advertisers to deliver high-quality, branded video content directly into people’s timelines.

Twitter Amplify launched three years ago, and has worked in with Sky on a number of campaigns since then across its official Twitter accounts, which have 16.5 million combined followers.

“We’re delighted to be working with Twitter to bring in-game clips to football fans across the UK & Ireland as part of our biggest ever season of football,” said David Gibbs, digital director, Sky Sports and Sky News.

Theo Luke, Twitter Amplify, EMEA, commented: “We can’t think of a better way to continue the momentous summer of sport on Twitter than live Premier League video clips. Sky

Sports are incredibly innovative on Twitter so it seemed like a natural fit to work with them to bring fans the most sought after action in sport, in an instant.”

Sky Sports customers will also be able to access mobile clips on the Sky Sports Football Score Centre app, which will host full highlights of all Premier League and Football League games every match day, including games shown on BT Sport, available after the final whistle.
