SES Platform Services and RR Media become MX1
SES has completed its merger of SES Platform Services and RR Media to create a new combined company called MX1.
MX1 will use the capabilities and infrastructure of SES Platform Services (SES PS) and RR Media to offer a full suite of digital video and media services.
MX1 will offer continuity and enhanced services to all of SES PS’s and RR Media’s existing customers, distributing more than 1,000 TV channels, managing the playout of 440 channels and delivering syndicated content to more than 120 subscription VOD platforms.
“This is an exciting day for us as we introduce a new company to the industry and our new brand name and logo. MX1 enables new richer viewers’ experiences, the widest audience reach, and new business models for broadcasters, rights holders, sports organisations and distributors,” said Avi Cohen, former CEO of RR Media and newly-named CEO of MX1.
“This merger allows us to scale-up on a global basis and become the world’s leading media services provider, delivering next-generation digital video and media solutions to our worldwide customers.”
The news comes after SES subsidiary SES Platform Services agreed to buy digital media services provider RR Media for US$242 million (€220 million) in February.
