Universal Electronics updates QuickSet
Remote control specialist Universal Electronics has updated its QuickSet product family with the introduction of QuickSet Cloud and QuickSet 3.7.
QuickSet Cloud is designed to deliver all the benefits of QuickSet – a product that can control nearly any connected home entertainment device – but as a cloud-service.
QuickSet Cloud’s features include: automated device setup of control interfaces for most HDMI or IP-connected devices; a one-touch view control function that lets users view content with a single press of the remote; and cloud access to Universal Electronics’ device control code database.
The cloud offering also includes more integration possibilities using web APIs – including with cloud video delivery platforms, IoT devices, and cross-platform mobile apps.
Meanwhile, Quickset 3.7 is the latest version of Universal Electronics’ embedded software solution. This uses all the capabilities of QuickSet Cloud including a new Predictive Engine.
This is designed to extend the automatic discovery and control capabilities of QuickSet by using standard device attributes and a predictive logic algorithm to identify a target device and simplify the user setup experience.
Universal Electronics said that with Predictive Engine, QuickSet can now provide Smart TV manufacturers with an accurate prediction of the subscriber’s video service provider to help SmartTVs interact and deliver value-added services.
Universal Electronics claims that its QuickSet range is integrated in over 250 million devices worldwide, including set-top boxes, connected TVs, game consoles, smartphones and tablets.
