Tele Columbus teams up with energy utility for high-speed broadband
German cable operator Tele Columbus has struck a deal with municipal energy utility Stadtwerke energy Jena-Pößneck to build a multimedia network for 12,000 apartments in the Jena area.
The pair will team up to provide residents with internet connections of 400Mbps and an improved digital TV offering.
The utility will extend its fibre network to the apartment blocks, while Tele Columbus will revamp the existing in-building networks.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
The utility is expected to invest about €2.5 million in the project, matched by a similar investment from Tele Columbus.
