Nos sees strong TV and convergent packages growth
Portuguese cable and pay TV operator Nos saw strong growth in its pay TV and convergent customer base last year after a period of stagnation.
The company’s pay TV base grew by 4.5% over the course of the year to 1.54 million, while overall revenue-generating units grew by 10.9% to 5.44 million.
In pay TV, Nos added 67,100 customers over the year, including 48,800 fixed-line pay TV subscribers and 18,300 DTH customers. The company added 21,900 pay TV customers in the final quarter of the year, up from 7,100 net adds in the fourth quarter of 2015.
The company highlighted a number of key improvements in its advanced TV service over the course of the year, including the addition of NDVR services, the launch of SVoD service N Play and the introduction of new features for tablet and mobile consumption of content.
Nos said that 42% of its fixed-line customers had now signed up for convergent services some two years after the company launched its convergent packages.
Nos added 151.800 fixed broadband and 124,600 fixed voice customers in the course of the year, while its mobile subscriber base grew by 13.2% to 4.12 million, including one million in convergent bundles. Nos said that almost half its mobile base now comprised post-paid customers.
Nos posted revenues of €1.444 billion for the year, up 4.4%, and EBITDA of €533.1 million, also up 4.4%.
