Swisscom sees TV growth
Swiss telco Swisscom grew its TV base by 166,000 last year to 1.33 million, 14.2% up on the previous year, despite what it described as “fierce competition” from cable.
Swisscom said that three in five of its TV customers now took its TV 2.0 service.
Swisscom increased its fixed-line broadband base by 3.6% or 68,000 customers over the year to 1.96 million. The company said that the growth in the number of TV and broadband connections more than offset the decline in the number of fixed network telephone connections. The number of revenue generating units increased year-on-year by 170,000 or 1.4% to 12.5 million.
Swisscom said the number of customers taking a bundled package increased by 17.1% to 1.42 million, with revenue from these growing by 16.3% to CHF2.234 billion (€2 billion).
Swisscom posted net revenues of CHF 11.7 billion for the year, down 0.2%. Net income fall by 20.2% to CHF1.7 billion.
