Sky prepares to ‘set your TV free’
Sky has announced a UK launch event later this month where it will reveal what’s next for the company, under the tagline “set your TV free”.
The November 18 event, tipped to be the launch of Sky’s rumoured next-generation set-top box, has been trailed by Sky on social media with the line: “From 1929 to 2015, a journey of innovation for TV. What’s next?”
Back in July the Sunday Telegraph newspaper reported that Sky was preparing for an imminent launch of a new advanced set-top box called SkyQ that will provide advanced connected TV services with an experience akin to that of Netflix or Apple TV.
The box, developed under the codename Project Ethan, will enable the simultaneous recording of four channels on multiple devices and will be able to receive Ultra HD broadcasts, according to the report.
