Brava buys Flemish channel Cultuur 7
European cultural broadcaster Brava has acquired Flemish classical music channel Cultuur 7, in a deal that includes all of Cultuur 7’s content and existing contracts with TV distributors.
Stingray Digital Group-owned Brava – a Netherlands-based pan-European cultural TV channel – said that with the new deal it will now provide classical music and local content in Belgium and help preserve “important Flemish cultural heritage”.
Cultuur 7 broadcasts classical music concerts, operas, and other forms of cultural content in four-hour blocks, 24 hours a day. It is available in Flanders and Brussels through Telenet and Proximus.
“Cultuur 7 founder Gabriël Fehervari has created a significant platform for Flemish classical music, comparable to what we’ve done in the Netherlands with Brava”, said Rob Overman, creative director of Stingray Europe.
“Not only are all of Cultuur 7’s productions maintained for viewers in Flanders and Brussels, but now, thanks to the reach of our international channel Brava HD, these contents are also available to music lovers in twelve other European countries. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring first-rate Flemish classical music to a wider audience.”
