Netflix takes global anime rights
Netflix has picked up SVOD rights to upcoming anime series AJIN: Demi–Human and it will launch on its Japanese service three days after its linear TV debut.
The US-listed streaming service has taken global rights to the show and it will play on its international services outside of Japan from mid-2016.
In Japan, the series will debut on the MBS, TBS and CBC channels.
Based on the manga by Gamon Sakurai, AJIN: Demi–Human, tells the story of a young high–school student who is hit by a truck and dies only to discover that he is, in fact, demi–human, an “Ajin.” What he finds are dozens of others who are also Ajins; all of whom are being hunted and trying to survive.
Netflix claimed its deal for the series marks a milestone in the way anime is distributed around the world, providing anime fans with quicker access to shows.
AJIN: Demi–Human is produced by Polygon Pictures.
