Scripps Networks expands Czech HD offering

Scripps Networks UK and EMEA has launched the Czech-language version of Food Network in HD on UPC Czech Republic, as part of its pan-regional deal with Liberty Global.

Food, entertainment and lifestyle channel, Food Network HD, will be available from today as part of the digital basic package of Liberty-owned pay TV operator UPC Czech Republic.

The deal follows the recent launch of Food Network in the Czech language by DTH platforms Skylink (in both SD and HD versions) and freeSAT. A number of regional cable operators in the Czech Republic and Slovakia also carry the network.

UPC Czech Republic is also expanding the range of its HD services, adding Nova Sport 2 HD and Nat Geo Wild HD to its line-up as well as Food Network HD.

UPC Czech Republic is also added Barrandov Music to its offerings from September 8.

Overall, the operator now offers 45 HD services, including the latest additions.

Nova Sport 2 HD will offer coverage of UEFA Europa League and English FA Cup football.

Separately, the operator’s UPC Express channel is changing its name to Region+, offering space for regional TV services on the platform.
