CTC Media launches movie streaming

Russia’s CTC Media has launched free movie streaming across its various channel websites and on its on-demand TV site Videomore.

CTC Media will offer a selection of films on the websites for its CTC, Domashniy and Peretz channels, as well as on Videomore, with the titles geared towards the themes of the corresponding stations.

CTC Media said that viewers will initially be able to access nearly 50 movies and will get 40 more by the end of 2015. It aims to expand the selection to “120 of the top movies in the Paramount Pictures portfolio” by the end of 2016.

“We are offering our viewers complimentary access to a quality portfolio of films, which is a unique offering in the market. This new service allows viewers to watch a wide selection of their favorite films through our online properties,” said Yuliana Slashcheva, chief executive officer of CTC Media.

“This is another important step toward the realisation of our strategic goal to transform CTC Media into a content-focused broadcaster across all media and geographies. This new service will also be monetised through advertising.
