Quickplay to launch LTE broadcast support
Online video technology specialist Quickplay has announced plans to integrate LTE broadcast capabilities into its managed video platform.
The solution will allow global mobile operators using an LTE Broadcast solution provided by Qualcomm Technologies, to deliver video over mobile devices and networks.
“We view LTE Broadcast as a natural progression of wireless delivery technology that will provide consumers with the ability to enjoy premium content anywhere and on any device. We are pleased to collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies to commercialize this technology and enable operators around the world the ability to provide innovative services with the goal of attaining seamless viewing experiences,” said Quickplay founder and CEO, Wayne Purboo.
LTE Broadcast is based on Evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) standards and is designed to deliver the same stream of content to multiple users, easing network capacity constraints and offering higher quality video and reduced latency compared to a unicast delivery.
Quickplay and Qualcomm Technologies are jointly demonstrating the LTE Broadcast solution at the Qualcomm booth at Mobile World Congress this week.
