Telenor Norwegian TV sees modest growth
Norwegian telco Telenor’s domestic TV base remained stable in the fourth quarter. The telco had 531,000 TV customers, up from 530,000 in the third quarter and up from 527,000 year on year.
TV ARPU increased to NOK287 (€33) in the fourth quarter, up from NOK279 a year earlier.
Telenor’s Norwegian fixed broadband base declined slightly quarter on quarter, falling from 860,000 to 855,000.
In Sweden, Telenor’s TV base stood at 520,000, up from 517,000 in the third quarter, and up from 284,000 in 2013 thanks to its acquisition of Tele2.
Telenor Broadcast, which includes Telenor’s Canal Digital DTH arm as well as its satellite arm and digital-terrestrial transmission unit Norkring, posted revenues of NOK1.55 billion in the fourth quarter, down from NOK1.778 year on year, thanks in part to the sale of conditional access unit Conax to Kudelski. However, Canal Digital revenues slid from NOK1.151 billion in Q4 2013 to NOK1.135 billion.
Canal Digital turned in an operating profit of NOK151 million, up from NOK138 million. Overall, Telenor Broadcast saw operating profit slide from NOK358 million to NOK310 million, due to the absence of a contribution from Conax.
