Walmart’s Vudu Spark streaming stick now on sale
US retail giant Walmart has started selling its own Chromecast-rivalling HDMI streaming stick, called the Vudu Spark, for US$25.
The device comes with a remote control, plugs into a user’s TV and acts as a WiFi-powered streaming gateway for the Walmart’s Vudu movie and TV store.
To activate their Vudu Spark, users sign in or sign up for a free Vudu account. They can then rent, own and watch movies and TV shows on a per-title basis, with prices starting at US$0.99.
For a limited time, Walmart will give users that buy and activate a new Vudu Spark a US$5 Vudu credit code each month for five months.
Details of the Vudu Spark first emerged last year in documents filed with the FCC.
