GS Group consolidates units to create Russian TV tech leader
Russian technology provider GS Group is consolidating its digital TV software activities under a single brand – GS Labs – with the goal of establishing itself as the country’s leading developer and supplier of integrated solutions for digtital TV operators.
GS Labs currently comprises three development centres with about 200 employees in total. GS Labs’ key business activities include the development of conditional access systems, the Stingray TV software platform for digital set-top boxes, mobile applications and services, and hybrid solutions in related areas.
The GS Labs portfolio of products includes integrated solutions for management servers, and recommendation and authentication systems for TV operators.
GS Labs, whose key Russian customer is Tricolor TV, will be launched at this week’s CSTB 2015 show in Moscow.
“Today, the telecommunication industry is characterized by the processes of integration and hybridisation of various subscriber TV solutions; and since we hold a full set of TV viewing technologies, we are also focused on expansion, discovering the new related areas,” said Maxim Samsonov, head of GS Labs.
“So far, the holding company provides its customers with the option of video content broadcasting from mobile devices, the advanced TV viewing services, such as: broadcast recording, rewinding, intelligent electronic programme guide, etc. At the same time, we are seeking to expand the scope of our activities by developing new applications for Smart TV and other platforms.”
