Sky gives Davey expanded programming role
UK pay TV provider Sky has given German unit Sky Deutschland’s executive vice-president of programming, Gary Davey, an expanded role as managing director, content, with additional responsibility for Sky’s entertainment, movies and news channels in the UK and Ireland.
Davey will retain his existing responsibilities at Sky Deutschland and will split his time between London and Munich.
Prior to his role at Sky Deutschland, Davey was responsible for launching terrestrial TV network Cielo for Sky Italia and he also served as managing director of Sky in the UK in the early 1990s.
Gary is one of the most capable executives in pay TV and I am delighted to welcome him back to Sky in the UK. As we become a more international business, Gary’s broad experience across many markets gives him a unique perspective that he can now apply to the continued growth of our content business in the UK and Ireland as well as Germany and Austria,” said Jeremy Darroch, Sky’s group chief executive.
